Job Description

Family Group Decision Making & Lifelong Links Coordinator (Fixed Term until 31 January 2023) - PKC08330
£22,986 - £24,540 (21.6 Hours per week)
REACH, Perth

In Perth and Kinross we have embarked on an innovative and exciting transformation to provide services for young people who are Looked After or at risk of becoming Looked After and therefore “on the edge of care”. REACH promotes a multi-disciplinary approach to providing community based support to young people and to their families and will reduce reliance on traditional residential care options for vulnerable young people.

Family Group Decision Making (FGDM) & Lifelong Links (LL) are part of the multi-agency team delivering a frontline service to some of the most vulnerable young people and their families across Perth and Kinross.

This specialised service assists families to devise their own solutions, using resources within the extended family and, reconnects and maintain relationships for those care experienced young people.

Through funding from the Promise Partnership, Perth & Kinross have the opportunity to increase the capacity within the team on a temporary basis initially, (additional funding may be secured after this initial period).

A Family Group Decision Making and Lifelong Links Coordinator is required to join REACH. The role will be to work with children, young people and families and other people who care about them, such as former foster carers, teachers or family friends, to establish support networks.

In addition to working directly with children and families, the post holder will be expected to work closely with other professionals and staff within the multi-disciplinary team. The post holder will also provide consultancy and training to other professionals within the team and across wider services where appropriate.

The Individual

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who demonstrates ability to engage with challenging young people and their families; contribute to Reach's positive team ethos and work confidently in partnership to achieve positive outcomes for young people and their families.

A degree in Social Work or relevant equivalent degree in this field is essential.  The successful candidate must also have practice experience in working with children, young people and their families delivering family focused interventions.

Ideally, but not essential, the successful candidate will be an accredited FGDM Coordinator and will have post qualifying experience in FGDM and LL. Undertaking an accredited FGDM course and LL training will be essential for the successful candidate.

This post is considered Regulated Work with Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update check, prior to a formal offer of employment being made by Perth and Kinross Council.
