Family Worker (Permanent) - PKC04231
£33,711 - £36,865
The Cottages, Lewis Place, Perth
In Perth and Kinross we are embarking on an innovative and exciting transformation to provide services for young people who are Looked After or at risk of becoming Looked After and therefore “on the edge of care”. This initiative promotes a brand new multi-disciplinary approach to providing community based support to young people and to their families and will reduce reliance on traditional residential care options for vulnerable young people.
Young people who enter care during their teenage years traditionally spend considerable periods of time in residential care, separated from their family and local community. We know that this is detrimental to achieving their potential and in meeting key outcomes. We have recognised the need to transform our approach to supporting vulnerable young people and their families and this new service has been specifically designed to do so in a more integrated, co-ordinated way.
A vacancy has arisen for a Family Worker to join this new team to provide support to young people and their families who are Looked After and on the edge of care. This person will help shape the service and be responsible for the delivery of family- focused interventions to help young people re-build and maintain positive relationships with their families. This will include family group conferencing and family therapy to assist families to devise their own solutions using resources within the extended family.
In addition to working directly with children and families, the post holder will be expected to work closely with other professionals and staff within the multi-disciplinary team. The post holder will also provide consultancy and training to other professionals within the team and across wider services where appropriate.
Working a 36 hour week and based within the HUB provision you will be part of a multi-agency Intensive Support Team delivering a frontline services to some of the most vulnerable young people across Perth and Kinross. This includes young people who are participating in high risk taking behaviours; at risk of child sexual exploitation and/or are identified as being " on the edge of care". These young people may be subject of compulsory measures of care through the Children’s Hearing, either living at home, Looked After away from home and/or are on the Child Protection Register.
