As Head Teacher you will have responsibility for the development and delivery of high quality learning and teaching which meets the needs of all pupils.  You will also be expected to lead quality assurance measures to plan, develop and monitor the continuous improvement of the school and implement local and national objectives.

You will be a highly motivated, enthusiastic individual who is willing to be brave, explore your own professional development and apply new learning.

The Head Teachers Education and Training (Scotland) Regulations 2019 require candidates who are appointed to their first permanent Head Teacher post from 1 August 2020 to have attained the Standard for Headship. If you have not gained this qualification, appointment can only be made on a fixed term basis for a period not exceeding 30 months. Perth & Kinross Council are committed to supporting candidates gain this qualification.

Pupils at Rattray Primary School benefit from a caring, supportive and welcoming classroom environment.  Across the school children are treated with equality, fairness and respect.  This is reflected in the school's curriculum rationale 'Together We All Can’ and values of ‘Learning, Included, Nurtured and Kind’ (L.I.N.K).  Through careful questioning and developing positive relationships staff know the children well and are well placed to support their learning and wider achievement.

At all stages in the school, staff provide children with meaningful, relevant and rich learning experiences that build upon prior learning and knowledge.  Support staff have been trained to deliver a range of interventions on a one to one basis and these have had a positive impact.

Last session, staff from Rattray worked with colleagues from Perth and Kinross, Angus and Dundee as part of the Tayside Regional Improvement Collaborative.  This session Rattray is working with Perth & Kinross Council Education & Children's Services team as part of our 'Inspiring Schools' programme.

The current school roll is 230 children in 10 classes from P1-P7 and there are 58 children enrolled in the Nursery.  The school has a Head Teacher, Depute Head Teacher and an Acting Principal Teacher (PEF funded).
