As the successful candidate, in this role, you will assist in the provision of an Occupational Therapy Service to older people and people with a disability living in the community
You will carry out assessments and implement the appropriate interventions to enable individuals to achieve maximum independence.
You will undertake the assessment and provision of specialised adaptations and items of equipment and to give instruction in their safe use.
Job Activities and Duties
To carry out a full holistic assessment of service users within their own home.
To identify provision of specialist equipment and minor adaptations as required and make recommendations for appropriate interventions to promote independence and minimise effect of disability.
To maintain responsibility for a caseload and seek guidance from supervising Occupational Therapist/Team Leader as appropriate.
To communicate observations, recommendations and outcomes of assessments to a designated Occupational Therapist and other professionals involved in a case as appropriate.
To share knowledge and expertise with others
To maintain clear and accurate records of casework, manually and/or through the use of information technology.
To provide reports and statistical returns as requested.
Maintain budgetary records using appropriate administrative procedures as required.
Participate in team meetings, personal development and supervision. Contribute to the development of the service by attending working groups and other forums as deemed appropriate.
To develop and maintain a sound, working knowledge of social and health care service, welfare benefits and eligibility criteria.
To maintain an awareness of responsibilities as defined by Health and Safety Legislation and ensure an efficient and safe working environment.
Assist Occupational Therapists as required.
You will be motivated, engaging and possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Effective time management is essential for a successful, autonomous worker to manage a caseload with the ability to be flexible and respond to crisis / competing demands being integral to the role.
If you have experience of providing individual needs-led assessment for prospective service users and their carers within Eligibility Criteria and Operational Guidelines then you could be the candidate we need.
Experience of working in the field of Occupational Therapy is preferable.
