Social Care Officer, Supported Living PKC07730
£11,595 - £12,857 (20 hours/week) Fixed Term (until 31 July 2022)
Flat 41D St Catherine's Road, Perth, PH1 5SJ 
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Supported Living Team and we require dynamic individuals who are motivated to support individuals with learning disabilities, additional support needs or ill mental health to promote an independent life as possible in the community. You will support individuals in their own tenancies with a variety of daily living tasks, and support individuals to access activities in the community as outlined in individual support  plans. You will encourage and assist individuals to undertake all aspects of daily living, including personal care tasks, assisting with meal preparation, supporting with taking medications and you will also be supporting the individual to manage their financial affairs and assist with budgeting and maintaining household utilities etc. You will also support the individual to manage their domestic household tasks. You will assist individuals in group activities with their peers, in addition you may support individuals to access community based social, leisure and employment related opportunities. Duties will also include undertaking learning and development within the context of the social care setting that meets the criteria of the SSSC registration.

 

The Individual

You should have experience of working with vulnerable adults who have learning disabilities, autistic spectrum disorders and or ill mental health. Experience could be gained from either a work related setting, from voluntary placement or personal experiences. In addition you should have good communication skills, good IT and computer skills and an awareness of Health & Safety. Community working is required to support tenants in their own homes in localities of Perth and Blairgowrie, therefore the person will be flexible and be able to work on their own initiative and know when to seek support from a manger. You will be able to develop good working relationships with colleagues to achieve positive outcomes for service users'. You will be good at teamworking to ensure that you and your colleagues' learning and development goals are achieved. Take responsibility for yourself, service users, colleagues and any contractors or others and ensure compliance within all relevant Health & Safety legislation. Promote and act as a role model for the Council's values and commitment to equality and diversity. Promote positive values and anti-discriminatory, non judgemental practise and treat colleagues and customers with dignity and respect in line with SSSC Codes of Practice.
