Working a 29 hour week and based at @Scott Street, Perth you will be part of Intensive Support Team delivering a frontline services to some of the most vulnerable young people across Perth and Kinross. This includes young people who can be viewed as participating in high risk taking behaviours, at risk of child sexual exploitation and/or have committed or are at risk of participating in harmful or offending behaviours. These young people may be subject of compulsory measures of care through the Children’s Hearing, either living at home, Looked After away from home and/or are on the Child Protection Register.
You will work within Services for Young People, delivering a statutory social work service where assessments of need and/ or risk in relation young people and their families are undertaken and care plans developed and implemented in line with policies, procedures and statutory requirements.
You will be responsible for a small caseload which could include child protection, Looked After and vulnerable young people.
You will have a degree in Social Work or equivalent as recognised by the Scottish Social Service Council.
Ideally, the successful candidate will have previous experience of working within a statutory child care setting, evidence of achieving successful outcomes for young people and their families and will have knowledge, understanding and experience in the use of relevant risk assessment frameworks.
We are looking for an individual who is able to engage with young people and their families; contribute to a positive team ethos and work confidently in partnership with other professional agencies to minimise risk and achieve positive outcomes for young people and their families.
This post is considered Regulated Work with Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update check, prior to a formal offer of employment being made by Perth and Kinross Council. You must have the ability to be registered with the Scottish Social Services Council within a specified timeframe.
