A vacancy has arisen within Communities for a Support Assistant to join the Planning and Development Support Team. The role of this team being to provide direct clerical and administrative support for the Development Management and Building Standards Services. The duties are varied and relate mainly to the administration of planning and building warrant applications which may include:
• Receive and register planning and building warrant applications into an electronic casework system.
• The use of a digital mapping system to identify addresses and properties relating to planning and building warrant applications and the plotting of application sites to allow for the identification of appropriate neighbours to be notified of planning applications, in line with planning legislation.
• Prepare and distribute The Weekly List of Planning Applications to Councillors and other interested parties
• Preparation of Public Notices and the arrangement for their publication within the Local Press on a weekly basis, including the administration and upload of notices to the TellMeScotland website 
• Formal logging and acknowledgement of comments received via the Council’s Public Access site, by email or by letter, in response to current valid Planning applications including the use of redaction software.
• Scanning, indexing and insertion of documents into a document management system and prepare for public viewing.
• Stamping of drawings and plans using both electronic and manual methods
• Ensuring accurate fee payments have been paid for all Building Warrants and that all relevant surcharges or discounts are applied. 
• Carry out property history searches using the Council’s record systems and provide 
certification of results. Also provide copies of Building Warrant and Planning application documentation when requested.
• Respond to customer enquiries via telephone or email.
You will also be expected to provide a wide range of business support tasks including data input, typing, electronic filing and other duties which are centred on the use of the Council’s electronic document management, casework and email systems. You will be required to work on a paper light basis at all time using electronic and digital working practices. The role will likely include moderate periods of home working by use of the Council’s remote working methods including digital communication methods such as Microsoft Teams.
