An enthusiastic and experienced person is required to become a member of the Flooding Section within the Structures & Flooding Team which is primarily responsible for the implementation of the Flood Risk Management (Scotland) Act 2009, Flood Studies, Flood Protection Schemes, watercourse clearance and repair works, Development Control advice (Flooding), and Reservoirs.
This post is on a pro rata basis - total 18 hours per week. Working days/hours to be agreed.
Your main duties will involve developing and working towards the successful implementation of the Flood Risk Management (Scotland) Act 2009 for Perth & Kinross Council. This will include liaising with The Scottish Government, SEPA, Scottish Water, Local Authorities and other relevant bodies in order to prepare and implement Local Flood Risk Management Plans, map relevant bodies of water and Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems, etc. You will be required to assist on council flooding projects and to work with consultants to deliver them.
You should have experience of flood risk management, have knowledge of the Flood Risk Management (Scotland) Act 2009, and be aware of Flood Risk Assessments, the Controlled Activities Regulations and Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems.
Experience of computer based hydraulic modelling and design packages and knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation are advantageous.
As a minimum, you must have gained an HNC in Civil Engineering (or equivalent) and have good financial awareness and communication skills.
A full current driving licence is essential.
