Are you a highly motivated person with experience of working in an information and enquiry environment with a variety of groups / individuals, preferably in a library or archive?

This is an exciting opportunity to join the team at the Heritage Centre as we prepare for the transition from our temporary base at the Abbey Mill Business Centre in Paisley to a completely re-furbished Paisley Museum in 2022.

The £42 million Paisley Museum Re-Imagined project will deliver a modernised, redeveloped museum unique to Paisley and Renfrewshire. When we re-open in 2022, the museum will cast new light on the fascinating collections, including the heritage collection cared for by Renfrewshire Leisure. We plan to develop further activities at the Heritage Centre to include open days, drop-in activities and introduction to archival research.

We are looking for a Heritage Services Assistant who will assist with the supervision, development and promotion of the heritage collections at the Heritage Centre and Paisley, The Secret Collection. You will be expected to supervise the work of Library Assistants with these collections as well as adhering to appropriate Renfrewshire Leisure policies, procedures and strategies.

You will be responsible for responding to the needs and demands of community groups and individuals. Experience of developing, delivering and promoting programmes such as our popular reminiscence sessions is desirable as is the ability to engage with people within our target audiences. You will be able to work under your own initiative with a minimum of supervision while contributing to the work of a small team. Educated to HNC level in a relevant qualification or equivalent is desirable.
