We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated HR professional with excellent organisational and interpersonal skills to join our HR & OD service to provide maternity cover. You will provide an efficient, effective, and comprehensive HR & OD service to a range of Council services, Joint Boards, and agencies.

You will provide a full range of professional HR advice and guidance on areas such as conditions of service, employee relations, recruitment and selection, grievance, and discipline.

It is essential that you possess a degree or post graduate HR management qualification or equivalent, together with a minimum Associate Membership of CIPD. Applicants must be able to demonstrate relevant experience in an HR environment, which must have been acquired within the public sector, preferably Local Government; NHS etc, and have experience of working with Trade Unions. You must be able to demonstrate a sound knowledge of HR procedures, practices, and relevant legislation.

You must also have effective communication, presentation, and written skills, including the ability to prepare and present briefings and reports. You will ideally have a general knowledge of terms and conditions of service for local government employees (including craft employees and/or teaching staff) and have a knowledge and understanding of the current and future HR issues within local government.
