An exciting opportunity has arisen to appoint a Service Planning and Policy Development Manager within the policy team of the Chief Executive’s Service. We are looking for an exceptional individual and strategic thinker with vision and drive to support Children’s Services in Renfrewshire. You must be comfortable working with elected members and senior officers within the Council and across its partner agencies, with a confident and persuasive communication style.

Renfrewshire Council’s policy team lead all strategic planning and performance related activities across the Council, ensuring responsive and flexible strategic support is provided to the Chief Executive and Corporate Management Team, service management teams and elected members. We work closely with colleagues at all levels across the Council and beyond, we are great communicators, collaborators and we pride ourselves in providing valued and effective policy, strategy, performance and data advice and support.

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic policy manager to lead the team supporting Children’s Services, however due to the nature of the service we deliver, there may be the opportunity to work across other service teams.

Children’s Services in Renfrewshire are responsible for the delivery of social work services to children and families, criminal justice social work, and early years, primary and secondary education.

You will be a senior strategic advisor within the Council and will work across management teams to drive service improvement and help to shape the strategic direction of the Council.

It is therefore essential that you have experience in local government or a similar diverse organisation and a record of achievement in public policy, partnership working, strategic planning in local government or in some other relevant policy/partner background. You must have a relevant degree or equivalent qualification relating to public policy or strategic planning in local government. You should also be able to demonstrate effective team building and leadership skills, with the ability to manage your, and your team’s workload and the ability to successfully collaborate with stakeholders.
