Role Purpose

This post provides a brilliant opportunity for someone to come in and lead on the delivery of Scottish Borders Councils ambitions to be a leading event destination and all associated activities, driving forward the economic benefits events can bring to the area. The Scottish Borders is a beautiful, historic and vibrant destination with huge potential for growth and development and this position will play a key role in realising that potential.

As well as driving forward the Scottish Borders strategic events plan you will play a key role in supporting the ambitions of the Regional Economic Strategy for the South of Scotland. This is an exciting time to become involved in the delivery of a wide range of projects. This role is based in the Scottish Borders, therefore the successful candidate will be required to be borders based and have an in-depth knowledge of the region.

Based within the Economic Development Section the Economic Development Officer for Events will support and coordinate the delivery of the new Scottish Borders Event Strategy Plan in order to maximise economic impact and strengthen the areas reputation as one of Scotland’s leading event destinations. The Officer will serve as a central access point for event organisers and will be responsible for leading the event management and coordination of major events in the areaas well as proving advisory support to key regional events and participating in the Safety Advisory Group. There will also be a requirement for partnership working with local agencies and stakeholders.

Essential

Educated to SCQF level 8
Qualification in a subject relevant to Event Management and Economic Development and demonstrable work experience.
Good general level of education with sound literacy and numeracy skills.
Ongoing commitment to Continuous Professional Development (CPD) within a performance management culture.

A current driving licence and use of a vehicle is an essential requirement of this post.*
