Role Purpose
This post provides a brilliant opportunity for someone to come in and lead on the delivery of Scottish Borders Councils ambitions for tourism and all associated activities, driving forward the economic benefits it can bring to the area. The Scottish Borders is a beautiful, historic and vibrant destination with huge potential for growth and development and this position will play a key role in realising that potential.
As well as driving forward Scottish Borders tourism you will play a key role in supporting the ambitions of the Regional Economic Strategy for the South of Scotland. This is an exciting time to become involved in the delivery of a wide range of projects. Based within the Economic Development Section the Economic Development Officer will contribute to the delivery of a range of tourism projects to sustain and grow business activities in key sectors of the area’s economy whilst improving the economic performance of town centres and the wider rural area. Assisting in the implementation and monitoring of effective policies to develop and promote the area as a visitor destination whilst supporting the Regional Economic Strategy.
Essential
Educated to SCQF level 8
Qualification in a subject relevant to Tourism and Economic Development and demonstrable work experience.
Good general level of education with sound literacy and numeracy skills.
Ongoing commitment to Continuous Professional Development (CPD) within a performance management culture.
A current driving licence and use of a vehicle is an essential requirement of this post.*
