Hourly Rate as follows:

NMW1 £4.62 (age 16-17)

NMW 2 £6.56 (age 18-20)

NMW 3 £8.36 (age 21-22)

NMW 4 £8.91 (age 23-24)

Salary: £8,431.49 - £16,260.73 per annum

Contract Duration: Temporary until 31 December  2022.

Role Purpose

Modern Apprenticeships (MA) offer new entrants to the labour market the chance of paid employment combined with the opportunity to do training relevant to the occupational area. They include the opportunity to gain nationally recognised qualifications that help kick-start a career without having to study full-time. New entrants include school and college leavers, those with no previous work experience and/or vocational qualifications

As this is an apprentice post the job holder will be required to work in various areas and departments throughout the organisation to develop skills, knowledge and experience in all aspects of the School Business Support. This will be via on the job training and formal training sessions to establish knowledge and understanding.

As part of the apprenticeship you will be required to engage with a training provider to obtain the desired qualification of Business & Administration SVQ Level 2 and have regular meetings with the supervisor and/or assessor.

You will assist in providing support to the schools business support team, develop skills and experience in the associated work area and undertake a SVQ 2 Business and Administration qualification as required, with the aim of self development to improve performance and experience of duties.

You will be based at Selkirk High School but on occasions you may be asked to do tasks in different locations that are beneficial to your development and training.

You may have contact with the general public and are expected to be respectable, well mannered and helpful at all time.




A good general education including 3 Standard Grades/National 5s, including English.

In accordance with Government Guidelines, you will need to be aged 16-24 (at the point of starting the apprenticeship) to qualify for this position.
