About the Role              

We are looking to recruit an experienced Team Leader for our Family Services teams. This post is part of our Children’s Social Work management team, and you will work alongside supportive colleagues. The Children’s Social Work service is part of the Council’s Children’s Services Directorate, which also consists of education, early learning and childcare, sport & leisure, and libraries.  The post holder will be based at Hayfield House in Lerwick. 

The Team Leader for Family Services is the external manager for our short break and respite service, and is also responsible for the Shetland Family Centre. The post holder will also support the development of a family group decision making service for Shetland. This is a challenging post which will require well defined professional values and personal commitment, strong leadership skills, and the ability to perform as part of an effective team.

Applicants should have the ability to travel throughout Shetland at short notice where required. The post holder will also participate in an out of hours rota, which is remunerated in addition to the salary shown. 

A relocation package does apply to this post and we will pay interview expenses from within the UK.

Additional Information

This position is permanent and full time, with the post holder working 37 hours per week, 52.18 weeks per year and we are happy to talk flexible working.  The post holder will be based at Hayfield House in Lerwick.

Candidates should hold a Degree in Social Work (or equivalent qualification) and will require to register with the Scottish Social Services Council upon starting in post.

The grade of this post is Grade M and the salary shown in the advert is inclusive of Distant Islands Allowance of £2,265 per annum. Preferred candidates will be required to join the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update prior to a formal offer of employment being made.
