What is the role?

Undertake, under the general direction of the Catering Supervisor the preparation, simple cooking and serving of food.

The Grade of these posts are Grade 1 / Level 2, the hourly rate is from £7.71 to £8.43.

Post A - Catering Assistant 12.5hrs (Term Time) (Permanent) - Prestwick Academy. The annual salary, adjusted to a term time working pattern is from, £4,300 - £4,870.

Post B - Catering Assistant 10hrs (Term Time) (Permanent) - Braehead Primary School. The annual salary, adjusted to a term time working pattern is from, £3,440 to £3,896.

Post C - Catering Assistant 10hrs (Term Time) (Permanent) - Holmston Primary School. The annual salary, adjusted to a term time working pattern is from, £3,440 - £3,896.

Post D - Catering Assistant 10hrs (Term Time) (Permanent) - Heathfield Primary School. The annual salary, adjusted to a term time working pattern is from, £3,440 to £3,896.

Post E - Catering Assistant 12hrs (Term Time) (Temporary for up to 6 months) - Tarbolton Primary School.  The annual salary, adjusted to a term time working pattern is from, £4,128 - £4,675.

In addition, please note that South Ayrshire Council applies the Scottish Local Government Living Wage for its workforce.  This means that the minimum hourly rate for South Ayrshire Council employees will be £9.07 and as this post currently attracts an hourly rate of less than £9.07, the difference will be paid as a pay supplement.  This supplement will also be paid on hours worked beyond 37 per week and will be included in the calculation of any allowance based on a proportion of the hourly rate e.g., outwith core and night working.  The supplement will decrease in direct proportion to any increase in basic pay and will be subject to tax, national insurance and where appropriate, pension contributions.

 

This post is considered to be Regulated Work with children as specified in the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) (PVG) Act 2007. Accordingly the preferred candidate will be required to become a member of the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update if already a Scheme member, prior to any formal offer of employment being made.
