Job Description

What is the role?

The role of Principal Teacher of Pupil Support within Girvan Academy covers all aspects of Pupil Support within the school.  This includes supporting young people in mainstream classes and within our Supported Learning Centre. The Supported Learning Centre in Girvan Academy is a local authority provision for South Ayrshire Council, providing additional support for young people who have a range of additional support needs.

This fantastic opportunity is open to both primary or secondary qualified teachers with significant experience supporting children with additional support needs.  As Principal Teacher you will have leadership and management responsibility for a team of teachers and school assistants supporting young people within the Supported Learning Centre and within mainstream classes.   A key part of this role will be to liaise with a range of external agencies such as social work, educational psychologists, and outreach teams to develop appropriate curriculum pathways for all of our young people.
