Job Description

What is the role?

Contribute towards the effective coordination and delivery of the Building Standards function within the Planning and Building Standards Service.

The specific areas of responsibility will be determined by the Council’s priorities and may change from time to time but will comprise the following:

  • Contribute to the leadership and strategic coordination of the Building Standards Service
  • Provide technical expertise and input to the Council’s Building Standards verifier/ non-verifier remit in accordance with the building (Scotland) Act 2003, to ensure public safety and to meet Council and statutory objectives
  • Provide timely and accurate advice and guidance to Council staff, projects and elected members in relation to Building Standards
  • Contribute to the management of budgetary control and management of the Building Standards team
  • Promote a customer and public orientated ethos within the operation of the Service
  • Contribute to key stakeholder communication and engagement activities
  • Contribute to the management and monitoring of progress and team performance

The Grade of this post is Grade 3 / Level 11, the hourly rate is from £23.54 to £25.01 and the annual salary is from £42,960 to £45,643

This post is considered to be Regulated Work with protected adults and children as specified in the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) (PVG) Act 2007.  Accordingly, the preferred candidate will be required to become a member of the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update if already a Scheme member, prior to any formal offer of employment being made.  If you wish further information on the PVG Scheme you can visit the Disclosure Scotland website at www.disclosurescotland.co.uk.

Please note you may be required to meet the PVG Costs. 

The successful candidate will primarily work from home with occasional travel within the South Ayrshire area. Frequency for attending the office may vary depending on the exigencies of the service
