This role involves assisting the IT Security Manager in developing and maintaining standards, procedures and guidelines in compliance with PSN and Industry best practice, to promote and ensure the security and uninterrupted operation of the Council’s IT systems.
Candidates should have a broad understanding of the security field as well as an awareness and understanding of the latest security threats, solid knowledge of information security principles and practices, an understanding of advanced security protocols and standards, experience in configuration and monitoring security systems and responding to threats.
Knowledge and understanding of UNIX, Linux, Microsoft Windows operating systems, Oracle and Microsoft databases, network connectivity and routing technologies, vulnerability scanning and management techniques and authentication protocols would be advantageous.
Candidates should be able to demonstrate the ability to work to tight deadlines and have effective problem solving skills. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, both written and oral enabling them to liaise effectively with colleagues, customers and suppliers. Candidates should also be able to demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning through the developing of new skills and technical awareness.
