Job Description

We currently have a number of positions available for both office and classroom based School support Assistants.

Appointable candidates will be required to work between the hours of 8.45am and 3.30pm.  Hours available include 27.5 and 28.45 hours per week

Locations: Various Locations are available including Stonelaw High School, Woodhead Primary School, Udston Primary School, Calderside Academy, High Blantyre Primary School, and David Livingston Memorial Primary School.

Applications are encouraged from candidates who have had experience of working with pupils with additional support needs to support learning and teaching within the curriculum and the personal development of pupils, as there are a number of vacancies available within mainstream Additional Support Needs bases.

The Individual

Candidates must have experience of involvement in the care and welfare of young people in a childcare environment. While a formal qualification is not essential, any of the following would be desirable:

  • NC in Early Education and Childcare at SCQF Level 6
  • SVQ Social Services (Children and Young People) at SCQF Level 6
  • BA (Hons) Social Work (or equivalent)
  • HNC Additional Support Needs (Supporting the Individual)
  • National Progression Award Playwork and Child Care
  • PDA in Education Support Assistance at SCQF Level 6
  • SVQ 2 Playwork at SCQF Level 6
  • SVQ Children's Care Learning and Development at SCQF Level 2.

Essential attributes:

  • Experience of working with children and/or young people in a formal setting
  • Able to demonstrate proven literacy and numeracy skills
  • Flexible and adaptable
