Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Council’s Learning and Development Team. We are looking to recruit a fulltime Staff Development Officer to support the learning and development needs of social workers and their managers across Social Work Resources.
We are looking for someone who has a keen understanding of the services locality social workers provide and is passionate and committed to ensuring they receive the right learning & development opportunities to support them in their role. Learning and Development is always important to an organisation like South Lanarkshire Council, and we pride ourselves on what we deliver to our workforce. You will join a committed team that works closely with Social Work and the South Lanarkshire Health & Social Care partnership to provide a range of professional learning opportunities designed to ensure employees keep up to date with their statutory requirements and fulfil their potential as South Lanarkshire employees.
Our ways of working have changed over the last 2 years and so too have our learning methods. As a result we are looking for someone with a flexible approach, strong communication skills and a willingness to embrace virtual and e- learning. 

Requirements

Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced professionals, who are looking for a new challenge, or seeking promotion. Applicants should have experience in the learning and development environment at a minimum. For example, supporting social work students while undertaking practice learning or working with colleagues to promote the learning of others. In addition, knowledge, and experience of statutory social work in at least one of the following areas is expected:

  • Children & Families Social Work
  • Justice Social Work
  • Adult & Older People Social Work
