Job Description

Who we are

Money Matters are a well-established advice agency within South Lanarkshire Council.  We are a non-geographic service covering all South Lanarkshire area for all who live and work here.   Within Money Matters we provide a wealth of specialised debt and welfare rights advice.

Due to the increased demand created by the current cost of living crisis and the3 Covid-19 pandemic, we are currently recruiting two temporary Money Advisers to complement our existing team.

This will be a flexible role, working in a hybrid fashion including home, office, outreach and home visits. Money advisers work 35 hours a week with a standard shift pattern of 8:45 to 16:45 Monday to Thursday and 8:45 to 16:15 on a Friday.  Job share and flexibility to these patterns can be discussed and considered at point of offer.

Starting salary of £29,837 for full time employment of 35 hours per week. 

Money advisers need to think on their feet and adapt to the diverse situations they’re presented with.

You will be a highly motivated person, seeking a challenging role within a busy team. You will be based with Money Matters Advice Service providing debt advice and assistance to all who live and work across South Lanarkshire.  You’re there at that significant point in their lives, to listen and to help, providing appropriate debt solutions and managing an active case load effectively to ensure the delivery of high-quality advice.

You will also be able to identify appropriate benefit claims to maximise a client’s income and make appropriate referrals to colleagues for this support.

You will continually progress and develop your knowledge keeping abreast of changes to processes and legislation that will impact on your role.

Responsibilities

What will I be doing?

  • Contacting client’s who have approached the service through a variety of channels and locations
  • Working as part of a team to ensure clients get a high-quality experience
  • Maintaining and managing an active case load
  • Handling a high volume of clients as part of a busy team
  • Communicating clearly with people of all levels and backgrounds ensuring their understanding and commitment to the debt advice journey
  • Providing and managing effective debt solutions to resolution
  • Maximising client income by identifying appropriate benefit referrals to colleagues
  • Keeping abreast of changes in legislation affecting money advice and welfare benefits
  • Providing advice via a variety of locations and channels
  • Work towards and maintain an acceptable level of CPD for Scottish National Standards
