Are you passionate about language! Do you have the drive and skill to assist refugee families learn English? If the answer is yes then we would like to know more about you. We are looking for enthusiast individuals who can assist refugee families integrate into their new communities. You will be providing English language support (ESOL) and you would be working alongside the Refugee Resettlement Team.
We have a well-established joint Support and ESOL team and your role would be to deliver a tailored language provision to adult learners. We are not expecting you to know any language other than to have excellent English language skills. This role is focussed on working in the community ensuring families have positive experiences and maximum engagement in cultural and social aspects of their new lives – you would be providing them with the essential language skills to engage with education, health, the council etc.
This is a very rewarding role and you will see families flourish as their English language skills and confidence develop.
You must be familiar with using the National Assessment Tool to identify individual learner needs and be proficient in the development of a learning plan to support progression and integration into the community. Learning programmes will be tailored to meet the needs of the individuals and will take place in a range of settings including on-line and in a community setting. You will adopt a holistic approach to support individuals and families from the moment they arrive in South Lanarkshire.
You will have exceptional organisational skills and experience of working across a wide partnership, with particular focus on working within community and group settings. You must be able to demonstrate effective communication and influencing skills, have a high level of personal initiative/drive and a proven track record in delivery high quality learning opportunities.
The post holder will provide regular reports to their line manager and key partners on the progress of the programme as well as reports on individual learning plans.
In providing these supports you will work in partnership with a range of partners, Local Authority and Voluntary Sector providers.
