Job Description

The aim of Social Work Resources is to promote social welfare and provide effective care and support to meet the needs of vulnerable people in South Lanarkshire. In partnership with community planning partners, voluntary and independent provider organisations, we offer a range of services designed to enable, support, improve and protect the health and social care of people using our services. You will be part of the Children and Justice Services Management Team and will be responsible for the management of a team of Children and Justice Service’s Social Work staff to provide a direct Social Work Service and provide professional support and supervision to staff.

Based within Children and Family Team this is an opportunity for either an experienced social worker/practitioner or an existing manager who wishes to extend their knowledge and experience within the team. The priorities for the manager will be to deliver a quality service through supervision and support of the team and by managing the local office budgets. Regular supervision is provided by the Fieldwork Manager and full support will be offered to the post holder by the Children and Justice Services Management Team. All applicants must be registered with Scottish Social Services Council and hold a Degree in Social Work qualification or equivalent.

 

Requirements

Responsibilities include:

• To be responsible for the management of staff and projects as determined by the Fieldwork Manager (Children and Justice).

•To undertake specific functional responsibilities to support the delivery of better integrated children’s services at a locality level as directed by the Fieldwork Manager.

• To ensure the appropriate allocation of work and maintain effective caseload/workload management.

• To co-ordinate and manage child protection investigations.

• To chair reviews of children looked after and accommodated by the local authority.

• To participate in the settings of identified budgets and to be responsible for management of specifically identified budgets.

• To participate in any Departmental training programmes as agreed by the Fieldwork Manager (Children and Justice Services).

• To ensure that the authorities policies and procedures are implemented and followed and advise management of any deficiencies in such policies and procedures. • To effectively manage absence.

• To ensure effective links with relevant agencies and other services of the Council.

• To monitor and evaluate practice and contribute to the development of locality planning and service development.

• Any other duties as the Head of Services may from time to time determine as being necessary and appropriate.
