This is an exciting opportunity to lead South Lanarkshire Council’s Community Engagement Team, which works closely with local people to help them identify and pursue their priorities for their communities, and to build capacity and harness resources within the community.
This is a key role in the council’s approach to community participation and empowerment, providing a framework to enable communities to engage with the council and access the resources to help them achieve their interests and aspirations.
This includes leading on the council’s contribution to Community Planning and its approach to the Tackling Poverty agenda, and managing third and voluntary sector engagement.
The Manager will lead the Community Engagement Team and have a relevant degree, will be able to demonstrate strong influencing and communications skills, and possess a proven track record of leading a team to develop and achieve strategic outcomes in a public facing environment.
As part of our approach to good practice and safer recruitment we carry out a number of pre-employment checks for example, Identity, Asylum and Immigration and employment history etc. As this post involves accessing the public services network, the preferred candidate will be subject to the Baseline Personnel Security Standards (BPSS).
