This position is fixed term until 31st March 2018.
West Dunbartonshire Council’s Housing and Employability team is offering an exciting internship opportunity for graduates to utilise and build upon the skills gained through study in a live and operational environment.
The successful graduate will have the opportunity to be involved in a number of exciting projects within the Housing Development and Homelessness team. The graduate will assist the team in the planning, management, delivering and monitoring of these projects.
The graduate will support the team in meeting its statutory obligations to the Scottish Government, tenants and residents across all aspects of housing services.
There will be an opportunity for the graduate to take on their own project to manage. This will allow the graduate to show their creative side and show the skills gained whilst at university.
The graduate should be able to work independently and show initiative. The graduate should also be able to work as part of a team and have excellent IT skills.
Skills to be gained:
Develop change and continuous improvement skills in a real life context
Develop project management support skills in a real life context
Develop facilitation and communication skills (for different audiences)
Develop understanding of the demands of working in partnership with multi agency colleagues
Analyse data sets and prepare reports on key findings Map current and potential process workflows; identifying areas of inefficiency, risk and opportunity. Undertake process benchmarking. Develop process maps, processes, procedures and guidance for optimised workflows. Work in accordance with the Council’s project management framework.
You can expect to gain valuable experience of working in a cross functional/multi discipline team environment within a significantly regulated environment. You will work alongside and learn from professionals across all Council service areas, but particularly Housing professionals.
You will gain the opportunity to utilise skills you have developed through study in a live, operational environment whilst developing new skills in homelessness, housing development, project management and stakeholder/relationship management.
To be eligible for consideration this opportunity, you must reside in West Dunbartonshire, have or are studying towards a degree relevant to the duties required, and currently be unemployed or underemployed.
