West Dunbartonshire Council is looking to recruit a Lead Early Learning & Childcare Officer for Linnvale Early Learning and Childcare Centre to support the delivery of high quality early learning and childcare within West Dunbartonshire Council.

The main duties of the post are: to contribute to the provision of a safe, caring and stimulating nursery environment for all children; to contribute and implement a relevant curriculum in line with national and local guidance; to plan, record, implement and evaluate suitable programmes of activities; to maintain and record children’s assessment progress and to promote parental participation.

It is essential you have relevant supervisory experience in working with pre-five children in a relevant setting in curriculum planning and delivering a curriculum as well as a commitment to developing parental involvement. You must have sound knowledge of the Curriculum for Excellence (Early Level) and Pre-Birth to Three Guidance likewise able to demonstrate a clear understandingof child development. Education Services are committed to the care and welfare of young people in a childcare environment. You should be flexible in your approach and have the ability to adapt to change.

It is essential that you hold a BA in Childhood Practice (or equivalent) and be registered with SSSC (Scottish Social Services Council) or gain this within 6 months of appointment. Further information on the role is contained within the job profile.

Requirements

This post is considered as Regulated Work with Children under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007 and as such membership with the PVG scheme is essential. Further details of this scheme can be found here.

Preferred applicants will be required to become members of the relevant PVG scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer being made by West Dunbartonshire Council.

Responsibilities
