Telecare equipment provides a 24 hour telephone link between the service user and Careline via their 'Lifeline' pendant and other sensors. Careline establishes the nature of the problem and, if required, contacts the key holder or the emergency services.

The purpose of the Home Safety Telecare Operative job is to undertake the day to day Home Safety Telecare contract works in properties located within West Lothian to ensure the equipment is fully functioning and fit for purpose.

The post holder will be expected to fulfil the job outline responsibilities/current tasks for the position of Home Safety Telecare Operative working on their own.

The tasks and responsibilities of the Home Safety Telecare Operative will include ;

The ability to carry out Battery Maintenance visits to Telecare equipment, log details as required, clean and service the batteries and carry out battery test whilst contacting the Careline advisor to ensure the equipment is functioning correctly.

Removal of Telecare equipment from properties, logging details of the equipment removed and separating equipment for future use as required.

Ability to problem solve faults and repairs from Telecare equipment, responding to calls within service timescales, utilising laptop software to determine faults and repairing at first visit.

Determining Telecare Battery Faults and repairing as required while feeding back on issues founds to line manager.

Installation of Telecare equipment in new customers properties including reviewing pre inspection paperwork prior to install, fixing equipment in pre chosen positions, syncing equipment using a laptop and equipment software to ensure working order, liaising with customer to give direction on the use of the equipment and any associated telecommunication cable extension works.

To carry out testing/fault finding of equipment using laptop and required software.

The essential criteria for the post are;

  • Building Maintenance or Construction Experience
  • Ability to problem solve and learn from previous experiences
  • Self-motivated to meet targets
  • Good knowledge of technology and ability to learn
  • Excellent communication skills and customer care
  • Current Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Proactive in identifying ways of improving service provision
  • High level of health and safety awareness

Please note the post will require participating in the Building Services out of hour’s service.
