The new state of the art primary school in Calderwood, East Calder will provide non-denominational education for up to 462 primary and 128 nursery pupils when complete at the end of this year. The new school is required to cope with increasing demand in the growing Calderwood Core Development Area which will see a significant number of new homes being built over the next ten years.

The new school is required to cope with increasing demand in the growing Calderwood Core Development Area which will see a significant number of new homes being built over the next ten years.

This unique and exciting opportunity will initially require the nursery class team to work in partnership with the school leadership team and the Early Learning and Childcare Area Manager to develop our new Calderwood Nursery Class and nursery staff team.

The continued role of the pupil support workers in the nursery class will be to work as part of a forward thinking, dynamic team, bringing a sound knowledge of child development. They will ensure nurturing relationship between staff and children, developing effective relationships between nursery and home. As a team, they will provide high quality interactions and support the nursery class team to deliver creative learning and teaching experiences, which meet the needs of all our children.

Postholders will take up post in October 2021.

This position requires registration with the SSSC.  The successful candidate will have six months from commencement in this post to register with the SSSC.

This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made
