Toronto Primary School is a non-denominational school serving the community of Howden in

Livingston. It is part of the Inveralmond Community High School cluster. The school roll is 322 with pupils being organised into eleven classes (P1-7) and a 30/30 nursery.

The senior leadership team comprises the Head Teacher, Depute Head Teacher and a Principal Teacher. In addition to fifteen class teachers, there is a team of pupil support workers, and support for learning teacher. The school office is staffed by an administrative assistant and a clerical assistant.

All pupils have access to a very successful Breakfast Club which is well attended. A variety of sports clubs are available out-with the school day throughout the year. The school has achieved 4 Eco Schools green flags and a silver Sports Scotland award.

Toronto Primary School is well supported by the Parent Council and the wider parent forum. The Parent Council works in close partnership with the school and provides support in identifying areas for improvement. There are supportive partnerships with local community groups.

This year, the school improvement priority is to support the wellbeing of pupils and staff and to ensure progress in literacy and numeracy through the recovery phase.  Digital learning continues to be a focus to ensure continuity of learning between home and school.

This position requires registration with the SSSC.  The successful candidate will have six months from commencement in this post to register with the SSSC.

This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by West Lothian Council.
