Currently, there is one Janitorial post available within the school in a three person department. The successful candidate will be directly responsible to the Estates Manager.

The person to be appointed should show a strong profile in each of the following:

Skills

a) Good communication skills are essential. The post holder will have regular contact with a wide range of personnel from within and out with the School.

b) Must be reliable and trustworthy, maintaining confidentiality in appropriate situations.

c) Ability to scrutinise requests, identify requirements and deal with problems.

d) Ability to receive and relay information and get things done on time.

e) Be able to work under instruction and on own initiative.

f) Show willingness and flexibility in their approach to their work.

g) Ability to learn and update skills as required.

h) To have computer keyboard skills sufficient to deal with email.

i) Be able to communicate effectively using the telephone.

j) Good personal fitness.

k) Good personal hygiene.

l) Ability to attend Campus, outwith hours, within 30 minutes.

m) Be capable of building up good and appropriate relations with everyone in the School community.

Knowledge

a) Relevant Health and Safety Regulations.

b) Security and fire systems and procedures.

c) Required to become completely conversant with all aspects of procedures within the School in general.

Experience

a) Have a minimum of five years janitorial or other related employment. School experience is desirable.

b) Manual handling.

c) Working at heights.

d) Minor repairs.

Qualifications

a) Full clean UK Driving Licence with minibus entitlement (D1).

b) First Aid Certificate (optional).

Some recognised Health and Safety Awareness Training is desirable.
