Role/Subject Specific Information

Edinburgh College is seeking to recruit a suitably qualified person to take up the exciting post of SVQ Assessor in Social Services Children and Young People.

Our assessors work on their own initiative. You'll often be out and about, meeting candidates and assessing them in their workplace. As such, you'll be responsible for your own diary and have the opportunity to do some work from home.

What you will offer us

You will be responsible for the assessment of SVQ SSCYP candidates, adhering to the SQA Assessment Strategy and Edinburgh College's quality standards and procedures. Carrying out regular visits, you will develop and maintain effective relationships with candidates from diverse backgrounds and provide monthly reports on their progress. You will maintain accurate records and provide timely feedback using College procedures and technology, meeting deadlines as required.

You will be responsible for the assessment of SVQ Social Services Children and Young People candidates, adhering to the SQA Assessment Strategy and Edinburgh College's quality standards and procedures. You must hold a qualification in childhood practice (minimum of SCQF 7) that enables you to register with the SSSC and preferably have a working knowledge of the standards for SVQ 2 and 3 Social Services Children and Young People. You will possess significant experience of working in a childcare environment, and will be an experienced childcare practitioner with the ability to prioritise work and meet deadlines with little supervision and you will be pro-active,flexible, and be committed to CPD and the success of our students. Moreover,you will possess ICT skills and experience, and you will also have a good working knowledge of contemporary legislation, policy and frameworks including the National Play Strategy for Scotland.

An A1/Land D assessor award is desirable although you must be willing to work towards this. You must hold a full, clean, British driving license.The successful candidate may be required to work at any Edinburgh College campus.
