Job Title: Instructor in Engineering
Department: Engineering and Built Environment
Contract Basis: Permanent
Main Location: Midlothian Campus (the successful candidate will be required to work between sites – Midlothian and Sighthill – as required)
We are currently seeking an Engineering Instructor with experience and skills within the disciplines of Maintenance and Mechanical Engineering to become an Instructor, based at Midlothian Campus, however you may be required to work within other campuses as required.
The successful post holder will be required to deliver classroom theories and workshop practice subject matter within the Faculty of Engineering from introduction to Engineering or National 5 Skills to HNC level which will include workshop practice vocational content. The related subjects will be within manufacture, maintenance and mechanical disciplines within an engineering context.
The successful candidate will be required to meet the needs of progression for SFC (Scottish Funding Council). The post holder will also take a lead role in improving Engineering and the use of VLE (Virtual Learning Environment).

Candidates must be educated to SVQ Level 3 or equivalent in an appropriate discipline (e.g. City and Guilds Level 3/EAL Level 3), and you must have relevant experience in the industry as a time served apprentice or industry qualified Technician, in an engineering discipline and manufacturing practice skill set. Furthermore, candidate must possess a wide knowledge and experience of the curriculum area, both theory and practice.
