Edinburgh College is seeking to recruit a skilled Information Manager to lead the college’s Information and Records Management & Data Protection programme.

What you can offer us

We’re looking for an individual who will ensure Edinburgh College meets its legislative obligations and pursues best practice with regards to Information and Records Management, Freedom of Information and data protection (whilst supporting the College to advance its Business Intelligence programme).

In this role you will:

1. Develop and lead the college’s Information Governance (IG) program - including compliance with the requirements of: (UK) General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR); UK Data Protection Act and EU GDPR; the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act and Environmental Information Regulations (EIR).

2. Design, create and implement Information and Record Management approaches that ensure that college information and records are systematically (and securely) managed and disposed of in accordance with best practice, statutory and regulatory requirements and policy obligations.

3. Lead college compliance work relating to data protection legislation. This includes coordinating responses to Data Subject Requests received and to have specific responsibility for collating and issuing responses to Subject Access Requests (SARs) on behalf of the college; providing interpretation, advice and guidance regarding subject access requests (SARs) that are highly sensitive/contentious.

4. Develop the College’s approach to Freedom of Information and have responsibility, in conjunction with the Head of Communications, Policy and Research, for implementing and writing policy and for monitoring and reviewing its effectiveness.

5. Review Business Intelligence Requirements across the college and Manage the production of a suite of Business Intelligence products; gatekeeping the process for product requests.

Although based in Milton Road, the successful candidate may be required to work at any Edinburgh College campus.
