Edinburgh College is seeking to recruit a suitably qualified person to take up the exciting post of Lecturer in Broadcast Media.

In this role you will join an established, award-winning team, reporting to the Curriculum Team Manager for Broadcast Media & Television. You will undertake an appropriate balance of curriculum delivery, assessment & verification, curriculum development, administration, guidance, support, and professional development. Drawing on your network and experience from the industry you will create and implement current and relevant learning activities for a broad range of students across FE and HE, focussing on industry placement and up-to-date and emerging practices.

You will contribute to the development of materials for a range of college, industry-based courses and external training programmes (which may be delivered to students from other disciplines) and to commercial clients. Current commercial experience will be required particularly in the following:

  • Video post-production editing
  • Motion graphic and VFX
  • Multi-camera technical fundamentals
  • OB live streaming

The nature of FE/HE in a college setting involves working with a diverse range of students and stakeholders and subsequently understands adaptability, a student-centred approach, innovation and collaboration as essential values in the role.

You need to be educated to degree (SCQF9) level in a relevant discipline, be familiar with current Scottish Government policy and strategies in relation to Further Education and related areas. Have experience in Education Scotland’s Quality Framework and awarding body regulation and college reviews. Be creative and work effectively with lecturing teams to encourage understanding and the need to adapt to changes in curriculum and commercial development to meet the needs of the department.

Good time management skills, with the ability to work effectively to competing deadlines.

Have excellent communication, interpersonal and networking skills.
