We are seeking to appoint to an enthusiastic, customer focused individual to provide an efficient and effective service in the provision of technical support within our Carpentry and Joinery department which enables the delivery of a quality and safe working practice to our students.

Responsibilities include wood machining, preparing materials and equipment required for all classes, including maintenance, fault finding, repair and ordering of all parts and consumables with tooling for joinery.

You will also support the academic staff in their daily role, helping to plan and organise, alongside coordinating hands on assistance when required. You will ensure safe working practices are carried out and prepare equipment for all practical workshop activities under the guidance of the academic staff. As part of the technical team you will provide support and assistance to a high level, together with good communication and being an integral part of the team.

You should be educated to SVQ Level 2 or equivalent (SCQF Level 5) in a technical subject and have a good knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and safe working practice.

IOSH Working Safely is essential as is experience of working within a college or school environment. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well within a team setting and on own initiative is also essential.
