Glasgow Caledonian University is a vibrant multi-cultural modern university in the centre of Glasgow and is placed amongst the top 150 modern Universities in the world (THE, 2017). Our welcoming community of 20,000 students from more than 100 countries enjoy a wide range of award-winning support services and state of the art facilities across each of our campuses in Glasgow, London and New York. Our University mission, commitment to the Common Good and core values of integrity, creativity, responsibility and confidence is integral to everything we do and how we deliver our mission.
Glasgow Caledonian University is embarking on a transformational journey to become recognised as a “digital University”. This brings a focus of delivering digital solutions to underpin our ambitious 2020 Strategy to develop our digital education environment and expand the use of learning technologies to enhance the student experience, support high-level digital literacy, scale up our online and distance learning offerings, and increase the connectivity of our campuses and communities. The University is a distinctive, inclusive and forward-looking organisation which has evolved from its Glasgow base into an international centre of excellence in higher education with a graduate campus in London and work currently underway on a New York centre.
With some large scale transformative projects now underway, there are a number of new exciting opportunities to join the team and work together to support the transformation to create a digitally-enabled University. The successful candidates will work at our modern campus, which has just undergone a £30 million redevelopment, in the heart of the vibrant and welcoming city of Glasgow.
We are looking to recruit two additional Business Analysts to support both our strategic project to replace our current student information management system (SIMS) and our business as usual activities. Our approach is to work collaboratively with the Academic and Professional Services teams, to understand, document and improve our business processes and to apply lean process design to ensure that our systems and services best support our customer - staff, students and business partners - journey. This is an exciting time to join the team as we look forward to implementing our extensive roadmap of technology-enabling projects.
To be successful you will have a passion for operational excellence and efficiency and really understand the impact that process improvement has on our customers’ experience and in supporting business change. You will understand that this is achieved by partnership working with colleagues in Schools and Professional Services and close liaison with project and change management and development teams.
We are looking for Business Analysts who are able to demonstrate a successful track record in business and systems analysis using structured methodologies and of implementing third party enterprise information systems. You will be able to document and communicate complex information concepts in non-technical terms to a range of users.
If you are someone who ‘thinks outside of the box’, is able to prioritise busy and competing workloads and negotiate with and influence colleagues you will be well positioned for this interesting and influential role. At a time of significant digital change for our University you could be part of the team that really makes it happen.
