The Department of Digital Engagement, within the wider Communications and Digital Engagement Directorate, is tasked with developing and managing the brand and messaging to engage effectively with key audiences and target markets. The department manages the University website and allied digital channels, with an emphasis on developing our brand digitally, in a measurable, demonstrable and targeted way.

About You

Glasgow Caledonian University is looking for an experienced digital content specialist who will lead a team of content producers and support University colleagues in the management and development of content on the GCU’s main website (gcu.ac.uk) and across other digital and print outlets.

The successful candidate will have a strong track record in team leadership, playing a pivotal role in developing the strategy and processes for delivering content to the University’s students and other key audiences. They will lead on the creation of a new, devolved content production model which is a cornerstone of the current GCU website redevelopment project and the planned redevelopment of the GCU London and Moffat websites.

This role requires an individual who is immersed in digital content best practice and key disciplines including Search Engine Optimisation, Site Search, Taxonomy, User Experience Testing, and data management. They must also ensure that all content is compliant with accessibility guidelines.

The successful candidate will deputise for the Head of Digital Engagement when required and have strong stakeholder and customer relationship skills. Experience in supplier management and in managing sometimes complex business processes and applications is also required.

The successful candidate will be degree educated and/or have equivalent experience and a professional qualification. Knowledge of the Higher Education sector is desirable but not required.
