In 2020-21, we contributed £1.7 billion and more than 14,000 jobs across the globe.

GCU is committed to widening participation, delivering positive outcomes for our students, and we’re Scotland’s leading provider of Graduate Apprenticeships. With campuses in Glasgow, London and New York, we have transnational partnerships around the world, supporting more than 22,000 students. Guided by our inspirational Chancellor, Dr Annie Lennox OBE, and guided by our values – integrity, responsibility, creativity and confidence - we transform the lives of the people and communities we serve.

The School of Computing, Engineering and Built Environment (SCEBE) is committed to the pursuit of excellence in teaching, research and knowledge transfer across the disciplines of Computing, Engineering and the Built Environment. The School wishes to appoint a highly motivated Learning Technologist to contribute to the growth in digital learning and the use of learning technologies.

A significant part of this role will be to provide professional and practical support to academic staff in the application and use of our Virtual Learning Environment so a good working knowledge of Blackboard (or similar VLE) is essential. The successful candidate will also be expected to have experience of developing digital learning and teaching resources and experience of developing and delivering training materials in the use of learning technologies.

We are looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic and committed individual who demonstrates excellent communication skills, strong organisational skills and an ability to effectively prioritise workload. The successful candidate will hold a degree and/or post graduate or professional qualification (or equivalent) in educational technology, computing or related discipline and must be able to demonstrate an ability to use a range of ICT devices, applications, software and digital capture devices.  Experience or knowledge of Further/Higher Education systems is desirable.

If you would like to discuss the role please contact Mr Iain Lambie, Assistant Head, Learning Teaching and Quality at i.lambie@gcu.ac.uk or Dr Mary Maclachlan, Associate Dean, Learning, Teaching and Quality at mary.maclachlan@gcu.ac.uk.
