This is a full time/fixed term opportunity for 30 months

The post holder will be an employee of Glasgow Caledonian University but will be based at Safehinge Primera with regular supervision meetings with the University’s supervisory team

Based at Safehinge Primera, in Glasgow, you will take a leading role in an exclusive Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) with Glasgow Caledonian University that will be driving a step-change in patient safety within mental health environments through a technological, data-led approach.

The Role
The role presents an exciting opportunity to help shape the future of how in-patient mental health care is delivered. Supported by the Engineering team, the candidate will be leading the design, development, and deployment of end-to-end IOT systems that include sensors and AI/Machine Learning to identify behaviour trends and provide predictive analytics. The role will require the candidate to set-up database systems, create data processing pipelines and write algorithms to visualise the data generated by the IOT sensors.

Based in a commercial environment, the role will also mean engaging internal and external clients, managing the project timeline and budget, and presenting insights and progress to the wider team. This role will be laying the foundations for a new direction for Safehinge Primera, with the successful candidate forging the role and requirements for team growth.

The role also includes a £5,000 training and development budget to be spent according to your needs and the project’s requirements.

Person Specification

The candidate should be a self-starter who enjoys shaping ambitious projects by working in an exploratory and iterative way, especially if this takes them outside of their immediate subject specialism. They will be working alongside a multi-disciplinary team however they should be able to structure their own time and priorities and feel confident managing a large project.

The successful candidate will have experience managing and running projects to timelines and budgets, and an MSc degree preferably in Big Data, Data Science, Computing or Electronic Engineering or equivalent industry experience. The candidate should also have a high degree of analytics skills coupled with experience in one or more programming languages such as: Python, SQL, Java, JS, C/C++ or others.

Knowledge Transfer Partnership

This project is part of the Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) programme that aims to help businesses to improve their competitiveness and productivity through the better use of knowledge, technology and skills that reside within the UK knowledge base. Successful Knowledge Transfer Partnership projects are funded by UK Research and Innovation through Innovate UK and are part of the government’s Industrial Strategy. KTP Associates spend around 10% of their time in training and development and are offered the opportunity to gain a Diploma in Management. You will be employed by Glasgow Caledonian University, but your role will be based at Safehinge Primera. Many KTP Associates are offered a permanent role with their company at the end of the KTP project. This project is for a fixed term of 30 months however, as the role is so intrinsically linked to the on-going success of the project, there is a high probability that Safehinge Primera will recruit the Associate at the end of the project.
