The College’s CLD team supports young people and adults to learn and develop in community settings.

The main youth work programmes to be supported are:

The Youth Access programme is an evening and weekend youth work programme which supports young people to learn and gain certification in drop-in community services, mostly based in the learning centres which form the John Wheatley Learning Network, but also based in other partner venues. For this programme the College is particularly looking for experienced youth workers who can engage young people aged 12 to 17 in learning based on their own interests (often games, music and social media as starting points) and support the development of creative digital skills based on coding, design (including 3D) and video and music creation etc. In this programme the youth work staff use a range of college and youth work certification to recognise the skills developed in this programme and is also supported by flexible learning teaching staff. The service requires staff who are flexible and can work evenings and weekends.

The Transitions to Learning and Work programmes are full time daytime programmes which support vulnerable and care experienced young people aged 15 and 16 towards independence in learning, living and employment. These programmes are based on youth work approaches but also provide formal attainment opportunities supported by teaching staff. For these programmes the youth work staff work with young people who often exhibit very challenging behaviour, and support them to develop the skills, resilience and attitudes required for further education and employment

You should possess an HNC (SCQF Level 7) or equivalent in an appropriate subject or possess relevant and suitable experience as an alternative to formal qualifications.
