Principal Teacher of Support for Learning - to commence August 2017 or as soon as possible thereafter

This vacancy arises as the current Principal Teacher is retiring.

The successful candidate will have the experience and expertise required to deliver an extensive remit and to continue the highly successful work of the department.

It is anticipated that the successful candidate will require to extend his/her skills base into the areas of the curriculum or with groups of pupils they may not have dealt with extensively (if at all) in the past. A willingness to engage with a broad range of needs, stages and issues is essential. The school will support the development of the individual through our professional learning framework.

The Support for Learning department work in both the Primary and Secondary departments. The emphasis on Primary is to support our early intervention strategy so that pupils can access the Secondary curriculum in a meaningful way. Experience of working with younger children is desirable but not essential.

Ensuring that appropriate assessment arrangements are in place, including for SQA examinations, takes on greater significance as learners progress through upper Primary and into Secondary.

Appointment is conditional on a successful PVG check prior to commencement in the post, satisfactory references, presentation of qualifications and confirmation of the right to work in the UK. Any offer of employment will be withdrawn if any of the above conditions are not satisfied.
