Job Summary

This post will be part of a small team dedicated to driving improvements to the University Student Record Systems in partnership with suppliers and business owners. The team supports re-design of business processes to improve student experience. An agile approach has been adopted to manage activities.

This is an exciting opportunity for career development in Higher Education or for a new or recent graduate. Candidates who can demonstrate comparable knowledge and experience from other sectors are most welcome to apply.

Full training and mentoring will be provided for the successful candidate. There may be opportunities, going forward, to apply for a Graduate Apprenticeship to enhance qualifications for eligible candidates.

Salary on first appointment is normally to the bottom of the scale, although in exceptional circumstances an appointment further up the scale may be considered.

Job Description

RESPONSIBLE TO: Academic Administration Continuous Improvement Manager RESPONSIBLE FOR: No supervisory responsibility


The role will support business process improvement by providing expert knowledge and capability in the configuration of the Student Record System (Tribal SITS) and other tools to meet the requirements of stakeholders. This will include maintenance and development of e-business processes to support improved student experience and streamline business processes.


Work in partnership with the business owners to design and implement e-business processes

Process mapping and analysis to improve efficiency and inform solution building

Configuration of SITS E-vision software to meet agreed business requirements. This will involve implementing automations, processing rules, designing user interfaces and web communications

Support data integrations and migration

Provide documentation to support configuration, change and release management

Writing test plans and supporting end user testing

Provide problem resolution support for SITS, liaising with the supplier as may be appropriate to obtain and implement solutions

Provide maintenance and support for new functionality and systems

Create and maintain User Guides

Qualifications and Professional Memberships

Educated to HND level or equivalent work experience


Knowledge of design and development of an application/database to support a business function

Understanding of databases

Basic programming languages

Business process mapping and flowcharting


Manipulating data for importing and export (ETL)

Writing and maintaining procedure and build documentation and user guides

End user system configurations, security and access

Analysing processes to deliver improvements

Partnership working

Planning and organising work to meet deadlines

Using HTML/CSS for formatting and tables



Qualifications and Professional Memberships

Degree in Computing/Business Information or equivalent


Understanding of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG)

Higher education student administration processes

Tribal SITS E-vision configuration tools


Delivering an online solution using system configuration tools

Placement or relevant work experience in a business environment
