RGC Online is a subsidiary of Robert Gordon’s College, Aberdeen, and has been designed to offer students a fast-track route into the tech sector. Lessons are taught outside of school time, so that students will still be able to attend their own school during the day, minimising disruption to their established routines, and promoting independence through their work. Students who are home-schooled will also benefit from an excellent level of instruction and support, without having to change their approach to education.

Our progressive and dynamic RGC Online Diploma comprises a series of modules designed specifically for those interested in working in the tech sector. Working with a number of strategic partners in universities in Scotland and the USA, and with leading companies in the UK, our modules on Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Software Engineering and Entrepreneurship can be taken as stand-alone qualifications, or combined they can add up to the diploma. Students who complete the diploma will be offered pathways to placement with leading tech firms to help develop their skills in the world of industry.

Qualified Teachers of Mathematics and /or Computing are required by the College on a full or part-time basis from August 2022, initially for one session, to work within RGC Online for all or part of their working day. The teacher will lead a Higher Mathematics and or Higher Computing class online via RGC Online as well as having an onsite connection during the working week to their respective departments. The role could be fulfilled by a dual qualified teacher, or filled by part-time teachers in Maths and Computing. A computing teacher may also work several days per week in the Junior School for this role.

The successful candidate(s) will be expected to contribute to the development of Mathematics and/or Computing teaching and learning at the College. The College and departments are committed to providing professional development opportunities for all staff and a full programme of support is available. There is a great deal of flexibility inherent in the role and we would welcome proposals for different working arrangements from interested applicants.

The post is available from August 2022. Applicants must be registered, or eligible for registration, with the GTCS Salary will be based on SNCT scales together with the Robert Gordon’s Allowance, currently an additional 6%. Candidates will be expected to assist with co-curricular activities and/or games, and to play a full part in the wider life of the school.

The ability to work with online and electronically based systems would be advantageous with a level of teaching support will be provided via an online platform. Knowledge of working with Microsoft Office and Google Drive is also required although full training on the use of the College systems will be given as part of the successful candidate’s induction to the post, with ongoing training provided as part of best practice and continuous professional development.

At Robert Gordon’s College we believe that diversity drives innovation and a strong community. We welcome applications from all candidates with the required professional qualifications and experience. Our commitment to inclusion across race, gender, age, religion, identity, and experience drives us forward every day as we strive to ensure our staff and pupils all feel equally valued and important. The College actively encourages professional development and supports staff who want to pursue ongoing training or qualifications.
