What We Offer

Based in the heart of Glasgow’s City Centre with easy access to transport links, the College offers an inclusive culture based on integrity, respect and personal excellence in making a difference in the lives of its pupils, parents and staff alike.

We offer highly competitive salaries with a generous contributory pension scheme.

As part of the St Aloysius’ family you will be working for an open and flexible employer who offer excellent annual leave and public holiday entitlement. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our children and young people and all staff share this commitment. We provide staff access to our multi gym suite and have a genuine commitment to staff wellbeing.

The Opportunity

A highly sought-after vacancy has arisen at the College for a Janitor, responsible for working within our devoted Janitorial team. As the College has a number of buildings, part of your role will be to ensure they are securely opened and closed each day. You will also be required to operate our alarm systems and ensure that no unauthorised persons are on the premises at any time.

This is a varied role which requires a flexible and adaptable approach to work as you will undertake activities such as deliveries, moving furniture and equipment, setting up areas for school functions as well as routine maintenance duties.

In addition, you will ensure the College Health & Safety Policy is adhered to in respect of fire, flood and accident or damage.

If you are successful, you will be required to work a flexible shift pattern (8hrs per day, Monday – Friday). The exact pattern of work will be discussed with you at interview, however shifts range anytime between 8am starts to 9pm finishes. The College are currently reviewing their closing times so it may be an earlier finish.

How you will make an impact

Working in our school means you will see a lot of our pupils, parents and staff on a daily basis, therefore your bright and friendly manner along with your ‘can do’ attitude will shine through. You will be an enthusiastic and trustworthy team member who has the ability to use your initiative and work without close supervision.

What you need to succeed

It is essential that you hold a clean driving licence as you will often drive the school minibus. There is significant outdoor working and you will ideally have previous experience in manual handling.

It would also be fantastic if you had a background in a trade or previous experience in a security or janitorial role, although this is not essential.

To Apply

If you are interested in applying, application forms can be found on our website and should be competed and sent to Shona Thomson in the Human Resources Department by 12 noon on Monday 11 July 2022.

The successful post holder must be capable of being a member of the PVG scheme run by Disclosure Scotland. Appointments will be subject to appropriate PVG, reference and confirmation of your Covid19 Vaccination Status checks.

CVs will not be accepted.
