The Opportunity

We are seeking to appoint an engaging and enthusiastic Junior School Pupil Support Assistant, to support and assist our Junior School pupils with planned activities and learning experiences.

In collaboration with our Class Teachers and the Additional Support Team, you will help deliver both individual and targeted plans to support learners with their individual support needs.

You will work with our young learners who may be vulnerable or have learning differences to ensure that they are supported to achieve their fullest potential, building their confidence and contributing in their progress towards achieving their individual learning targets.

How you will make an impact

You will be required to support teachers by collating work, organising and assisting with teaching materials and resources required to support our individual learners’ needs.

You will contribute to updating and building individual plans in order to maintain good pace and relevant support for learners. You will also assist with departmental administration on a daily basis.

What you need to succeed

With your natural enthusiasm and positivity, you will be able to demonstrate your experience of working with children with a range of additional support needs, ideally within a school environment.

You will be supportive, patient and highly empathetic, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You must also be able to demonstrate your ability to work effectively as a member of a close team.

A qualification in child care, education or ASN is not essential, but would be advantageous.

The successful post holder must be capable of being a member of the PVG scheme run by Disclosure Scotland. Appointments will be subject to appropriate PVG, reference and confirmation of your Covid19 Vaccination Status checks.
