Job Description
Teacher of General Subjects
St. Philip’s provides Specialist Residential and Day Education to young people aged 10 – 17 years, who have a range of additional support needs, including such areas as social, emotional and behavioural development.
The Individual
We are looking to recruit, on a permanent, full-time basis, a Teacher of General subjects. We would particularly welcome applications from Teachers with experience of special education, and/or qualifications, in Additional Support Needs.
We require enthusiastic, flexible and imaginative individuals who are committed to this very challenging work and who can help us develop Curriculum for Excellence and achieve the best possible outcomes for young people.
Job Specification
The duties of teachers shall be expressed in the Scheme of Conditions of Service and be:
- Subject to the policies of the school and the education authority to perform such tasks as the Head of Education shall direct having reasonable regard to overall teacher workload related to the following categories:
a) Teaching assigned classes together with associated preparation and correction.
b) Developing the school curriculum.
c) Assessing, recording and reporting on the work of pupils.
d) Preparing pupils for examinations and assisting with their administration.
e) Providing advice and guidance to pupils on issues regarding their education.
f) Promoting and safeguarding the health, welfare and safety of pupils.
g) Working in partnership with parents, support staff and other professionals.
h) Undertaking appropriate and agreed continuing professional development.
i) Participating in issues related to planning, raising achievement and individual review.
j) Contributing towards good order, and the wider needs of the school.

Terms and Conditions are favourable and Salaries for these posts will be commensurate with individual qualifications and experience.
Requirements
Candidates must be GTC registered.
Health screening will be undertaken prior to confirmation of employment. All convictions whether spent or unspent must be declared. Candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update. (NB It is a criminal offence to make an application if barred from regulated work)
