Introduction

Due to a recent expansion within our busy IT department, Strathallan School currently has requirement for an IT Support Technician. Reporting to the IT Manager and supporting the existing IT team in order to meet business requirements, you will maintain a high level of communication with all stakeholders, providing a proactive level of support, in addition to a ‘hands on’ service delivery.

About the role

As an IT Technician at Strathallan School, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks, which include: undertaking Windows 10 builds and Imaging rollout using deployment methods, accurately updating and maintaining our helpdesk system, liaising with third party software/hardware providers. In addition, you will also be involved in carrying out additional project work and will keep accurate and up to date records and documentation. Please be aware that there will be an element of heavy lifting and manual handling involved in this role.

About you

You are a team player who is looking to thrive and you are an individual who has a track record of taking ownership of problems and tasks. Consistently demonstrating a ‘can do’ attitude, you have the ability to remain calm under pressure and you have excellent communication skills. From previous roles, you will have gained a great deal of experience in working with a variety of stakeholders in order to resolve what can often be quite complex IT problems. Due to an increased focus on cyber security procedures and methods, risk awareness and attention to detail are paramount attributes, as is your familiarity in this area.

Knowledge and experience

You will have a thorough understanding of desktop PC hardware and basic AV setup. You will possess a good knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy and User Administration processes and a solid understanding of server hardware set-up and software configuration. You will have experience of configuring and managing Windows 10 and Windows Server 2012/2016, Office 365 operation and troubleshooting, and have a track record in supporting users with MS Office 2016. You will have knowledge of networking (routers/switches/firewalls) and networking software, in addition to troubleshooting TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, LAN/WAN, IPSec and vLans. You will also have an understanding of VOIP telephony platforms and an awareness and understanding of virtualisation technologies. Familiarity with Enterprise mobile device support would be preferred. Whilst not essential, experience with Fortinet ‘fabric’ would be desirable.

Qualifications

It is essential for the purpose of this role that you possess either an HNC or HND in Computing. Possession of Microsoft accreditation (MCSA) would be seen as desirable, however this is not an essential requirement.
