Applications are invited for a PDRA to co-ordinate our benthic habitat and marine protected area research and consultancy services. As the ideal candidate you will have experience of marine surveying, mapping and modelling, and have experience of working with a range of stakeholders. You will need to be a highly collaborative team player, communicate effectively with the Marine Spatial Planning Manager (Dr Rachel Shucksmith) and the wider department, and foster excellent relations with stakeholders and partners.

The role will focus on developing our understanding of PMFs habitats in Shetland (and beyond) in relation to marine activities and user, in particular fisheries, by co-ordinating and developing relevant marine surveys including DDV, multi-beam surveys, as well as developing predictive habitat maps. This will include developing research and consultancy opportunities with a range of stakeholders. You will be expected to present at meetings, conferences and to the public/stakeholders, and will be an active member of the wider department. It is anticipated the successful candidate will develop impactful research with appropriate outputs including peer-reviewed publications.

The successful candidate will hold a PhD in a relevant area, such as marine biology, environmental science, ecology.
