ABOUT THE JOB
The DESC (Digital Evidence Sharing Capability) programme is a large scale, complex programme designed to be transformative in its ambition to modernise the Criminal Justice System in Scotland.
Working in conjunction with a 3rd party market leading vendor and software solution the programme seeks to use technology to support the capture, storage, editing and sharing of Digital Evidence between and across CJ Partners. DESC is also regarded as a critical enabler for further change and transformation in this key area.
The programme involves a range of Criminal Justice partners including Police Scotland, Scottish Government, Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service (COPFS), Scottish Courts and Tribunals Service (SCTS) and the Defence Community.
Under the direction of the Business Intelligence Lead, you will be making a valuable contribution to providing professional technical services to adapt, transform and improve Police Scotland’s systems in line with the policing 2026 Strategy. Additionally you will be responsible for maintaining the existing data integration estate and ongoing developments and upgrades in a DevOps environment.
ABOUT YOU
You will be educated to degree level in a computer science or software engineering discipline.
You will demonstrate proven experience and innovation using appropriate tools and techniques to integrate and prepare data from diverse and disparate enterprise applications for analytical and operational purposes.
You will have experience of batch ETL technologies or data pipeline development experience. You will be versed in approaches to data architecture and have an understanding of data warehousing, data cleansing.
You are required to have strong experience with either Oracle RDBMS or Microsoft SQL Server databases. In addition you should have good communication, problem solving and analytical skills
This role is key to providing our Police partners with analytics and operational data solutions during an ambitious period of digital transformation.
This full time post is temporary until September 2023 and requires Management and Security Clearance Vetting. You will work 35 hours per week, Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm.
